What do you do and why is it your passion?
I am a makeup artist based in NYC as well as being a Chanel beauty ambassador. My job is very intimate, being a few inches away from someone's face and being trusted to create something beautiful is very energizing to me.
What is the process for creating your work?
My job is very much a team effort. Working with the photographer, stylist and hairstylist, we all work together to create something that conveys a story or a feeling through a photograph. Our jobs compliment each other.
How do you get inspired?
Watching films or going to museums. I love researching beauty ideals throughout history as well. This usually sparks an idea for a beauty concept.
How did you get started in your career? What has been your journey to finding your own place and stamp on your industry?
I always loved doing makeup, I was very experimental as a teenager wearing crazy makeup looks everyday. This job was sort of second nature to me. I moved to NY at 19 where I started assisting and learning from other great artists.
How often are you travelling? What routine or tricks have you created for being on the road so often?
Well, I’ve already been on 10 planes since the beginning of the year and it’s only Feb 1st! I have 2 sets of separate travel bags for my toiletries/electronics always packed so I know I am never going to forget anything behind. I never take them out of my travel bag.
What is your favorite thing about travelling?
I love exploring new places and cultures or creating a little routine and finding your favorite go to spots to places you visit often. I don’t like doing the same thing for too long so traveling often is the perfect reset.
What does luxury mean to you?
Luxury is something that you can imagine passing down to your children. Luxury can also be simply convenience.
What are the things we will always find inside your bag (the non-obvious please!)
My wallet, hand sanitizer, two different shades of Chanel red lipstick (you never know when you need some!), a pen and notepad, C.O Bigelow Musk, hand cream and an emergency stash of Excedrin migraine pills.
